Mythology distracts us everywhere . . .​

Why do we teach math differently now?

This is an interesting and accurate response to what is different about math instruction today and why it is so different.  I couldn't agree more with what he is saying!  To you math people out there I have a question: what other methods might make the calculation in his example easier?  Food for thought!
