Grade 4 Mathematics Performance Tasks
These tasks were created by AAESA teachers in conjunction with the Linda Jordan Performance Tasks Series in 2013-14. The tasks below are math-related, and are excellent examples of performance tasks. These tasks have not been peer-reviewed or tested at this time. They are DRAFTS only.
Grade 4 - Dream House
This task asks students to design a house and then calculate, based on provided prices, costs for things such as paining rooms and flooring. Connections to area and operations with mixed numbers are prevalent.
Grade 4 - Extreme Playground Makeover
Students are asked to design a new playground given certain conditions and requiring the use of geometric concepts and shapes. A persuasive report is required as the final product.
Grade 4 - It's in the Numbers!
This task requires students to research population, precipitation, and other information about states from various regions around the country. Students must answer interpretation questions about the data and write some information in expanded form.
